Key to All Relationship Quarrels

Steven Reiss, the Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Ohio State University, found what he believes to be the “key to all kinds of human relationships” in the 150-year-old words of George Ramsay. In a passage, Ramsay explains the principle of “self-hugging” which is a pervasive process Reiss thinks is the reason for enduring quarrels in all relationships. The principle operates with the way people are wired. Comparing two kinds of people, the Spender and the Saver, each enjoys a certain lifestyle and cannot understand how the other can enjoy their opposite choice. Each consider their own choice wise and the other foolish.
