When the Dalai Lama met with a group of Western therapists, he asked them what was the most common problem among their clients. They all agreed that a lack of self-esteem was one of the hardest issues their clients struggle with. The effects of low self-esteem are felt in nearly every aspect of one’s life. It can lead to depression, hopelessness, and self-doubt. Meditation has a profound effect on these inner-struggles. Meditation can help us by, first and foremost, allowing us to get to know and to become friends with ourselves. It can also help us grow to love who we are.
