Loving the Lotus

Meditation has many benefits, but most recently neuroscientists have found that meditators are indeed healthier than non-meditators. In a recent study, results showed that participants who meditated had increased left frontal lobe activity. This shift away from right frontal lobe activity, an area associated with high stress, signaled to researchers just one of the many benefits of this contemplative practice. The study measured the brain waves of meditators at the beginning of an eight week course in meditation and again after its completion, as well as a control group of participants who did not change their behavior.
