The secret to a healthy long-term relationship can seem illusive, but the truth is that the biggest problems most people face are the three A’s: alcoholism, affairs, and anger. Alcoholism can refer to an addictive behavior of any kind that is present in the relationship. Watching too much sports, for example, or being a shopoholic can damage a relationship as much as a substance abuse problem. The key here is to let down your defenses and be willing to address the problematic behavior head on. Avoiding affairs and dealing responsibly with anger while keeping addictive behaviors in check will go a long way to a happy, healthy relationship.
