Leave Your Lover to Re-energize Your Emotional and Sexual Relationship

When Doctor Douglas LaBier, the Director of the Center for Progressive Development, advises people to leave their lover in order to improve the relationship, he doesn’t mean people should physically leave their partners. What he means instead is that people should leave the way in which they relate to their partner on a daily basis. Most people carry a model of love based on power struggles into their adult relationships from adolescence. This is a model in which each partner is struggling for power and control over the relationship. At the same time, most couples are looking for equality in their relationship that involves mutual acceptance and a loving connection.
