Learn to Open Yourself Up for Connection

Jennifer Garza always considered herself an open person, enjoying meeting people from all walks of life and sharing experiences with them. She realized, however, that after her brother died she had been developing a shell to protect herself emotionally as she grew older. When her brother, who was a seaside resort bartender in South Carolina, died, Garza’s parents were overwhelmed with sympathetic letters from his patrons, some who only saw him twice a year. Some patrons even took it upon themselves to hold services for him, because Garza’s brother took every opportunity he could to connect to other people.
