Friends with Benefits or Complications?

A “friends with benefits” relationship may not be as uncomplicated as one might think. Turning a friendship into a sexual relationship, while it may seem to be a wonderful idea, could potentially harm the very thing that is beneficial about the friendship. For many people who would categorize their relationship as “friends with benefits” there remains an underlying feeling of not being good enough to be the other person’s “real spouse.” It is important to remember that the benefits of friendship are integral to overall emotional health. They include, among other things, creating a network of people who can give your life perspective and support your individual journey as a second family.
