Body Image Booster: Distracting Yourself from Disparaging Thoughts

Even the most confident of us have struggles with occasional negative thoughts about our bodies. Trying to “un-think” these thoughts can be quite difficult, especially for people suffering from body image and eating disorders. A simple activity can help, however. If you feel a negative thought creeping in, quickly shift your attention to a positive or neutral subject. Examine the complexities of a flower, look at a night stand, or even the sky. If you focus enough on another object for a few moments, it will re-frame your mind, disallowing you to keep thinking negative thoughts about your body.
